I made some progress on my stuff this month, but as you will notice, there is only one makeup product in this batch. These are the things that I legitimately used up and are true empties:
Soap and Glory Flake Away Body Polish:
I like having a scrub for my weekly soak, and I like Soap and Glory products, but I really don't like the standard Soap and Glory scent. I would consider getting this again in a different scent and I like that Walgreens frequently has sales on this product.
EVO Salty Dog:
A salt spray is one of the staple products that I like to have around to get the texture in my hair after I wash it. I like this spray. The scent is light and it has a pretty good hold. I have used better salt sprays, but this one doesn't dry my hair out or leave it sticky which is about what I am looking for in a salt spray. I may buy this again when I work through the sprays that I have, but I would like to find something less expensive and easier to get.
Solid and Striped Face Sunscreen:
I LOVE this stuff. The consistency is perfect, it doesn't end up feeling greasy and sets down pretty well. It doesn't leave any sort of white cast and the bottle makes me happy. It also doesn't have a strong scent of any kind. I love the smell of sunscreen, but it is a scent I want to wear day to day. I won't be buying a replacement because I got two bottles from a great Black Friday sale they had. I need to plan in the future for this sale to stock up. I really hope that they don't stop making this because it is my favorite. At $28.00 a bottle (but with free shipping!), it isn't exactly inexpensive, but I am willing to pay the price and it seems to last for a long time.
O'Keefe Healthy Feet Exfoliating:
This is a decent foot cream. I don't find that it does much for exfoliation though. It is basically a heavy, overnight type foot cream. I will say that my feet have serious issues though, so the fact that this wasn't spectacular isn't surprising. I wouldn't go out of my way to buy this again.
Sunday Riley Good Genes:
This was a Birchbox sample and this isn't the first container of this that I have gone through. I believe that I bought it twice in the past. I like it, I think it does nice things for my skin. I wouldn't be against buying this again in the future, but it is also very expensive and I think there are other acids I could use that would be good. Maybe not as good, or as nice, but good enough. I am not going to go into the obvious review issues that are running around about this brand.
Evo Salty Dog Salt Spray:
I like a lot about this brand. I like the funny sayings on the bottles, I like the minimalist packaging. I like the fact that it isn't the most well known brand in the world. This spray was just ok though. I didn't find the scent to be anything amazing and it is just a basic salt spray. I probably wouldn't buy it again because it is pretty pricey.
Random Eye Patches:
I have gotten a lot of these in beauty boxes over the years and I am trying to use them up before they expire. I made it through three this month. They are all fine. I don't have a big issue with under eye circles or puffiness, so I am pretty ambivalent about these in general. They feel nice. Once I use all of my stock up, I may or may not buy a jar of one type and just stick with that.
Laneige Water Sleeping Mask:
Meh. This just seemed like a medium weight cream to me. I used it up because I try to keep a small tube of night cream by my bedside for days I forget to put one on before I get in bed and I clearly did that enough over the last couple of months to use this up. I didn't hate it but I would never repurchase it.
First Aid Beauty Cleanser:
This was a tiny sample that I got from a Sephora order. I don't know that there is enough in this sample to really make a decision one way or another about this product, but based on this packet I don't have anything good or bad to say about it. Cleansers can really mess with my skin and this one didn't, so I guess it has that going for it, but it is pretty expensive for a cleanser. If I were spending this much on a cleanser, I would want it to do something.
Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask:
I will talk more about this in my "where I screwed up" post coming soon where I recap my January spending, but I liked this a lot. This small packet lasted me 4 days using it as a normal night cream. I like the scent, I like how it sits on my skin and I liked that I could still feel a little slip the next day when I was washing it off. I will say that I think it caused a couple of bumps to pop up, but that has stopped since I have been using it for a few weeks. I have already purchased a full size of this.
Devines Liquid Spell:
I subscribed to Birchbox to take advantage of a Beachwaver special they had last year and when I re-subscribed to it, I promised myself I wouldn't let all of those samples pile up all over the place. I have done a pretty good job of keeping that promise to myself. This was one that I got in a box a month or so ago and I liked it. I thought it gave my hair pretty nice texture and worked well to keep body in my hair after it air dried. I like texture products. But DANG! This stuff is $45.00 for a less than 5oz bottle. The sample I had went pretty quickly so this isn't a "little goes a long way" type of product. I wouldn't buy this again 100% based on the price.
Thrive Beauty Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara:
I probably could have gotten a couple more uses out of this, but it is pretty dried up at this point and starting to get pretty rubbery. When I bought this, I bought two tubes at once, so I have another one to use up. That was dumb. It is a fine mascara, but I am sort of over the tubing thing with the little black flecks all over the place and I think I prefer my lashes to be less caked on. I will use up the backup tube I have, but I don't think I will buy another one.
Decluttered/Donated:
All of the following products are ones that I am decluttering/giving away/donating. Most are rejected foundations from my January project, and I am not going to talk about them again, but I will touch on the others that I am getting rid of.
John Frieda Air Dry Waves Styling Foam:
Tried it for about 2 weeks. Did absolutely nothing for my hair. Just taking up space at this point.
Random Makeup Sponges:
I found my ideal makeup sponge and these had to go.
Beauty Bakery Matte Lip Whip in a color I don't think they make anymore:
This color is too pale for me and the really dry formula of this liquid lip makes this an easy pass for me
Sixteen92 Paper Moon:
Love this company. Love oils, this one doesn't work for me. I plan on seriously going through my oils and perfumes to post a sale thread on Reddit in the next month or so and I will put this one on there.
Elf Blush Palate:
I bought this when I was out of town because I forgot my blush at home. It is really powdery and has 4 different shades in the palate. You can't get just one without picking up some from another pan. I don't think I like blush palates.
Kaja Primer:
This was watery and I felt like it made my foundation pill up
Au Naturale The Anywhere Creame Multistick in Grapefruit:
I found this when I was cleaning out my bathroom. Pretty sure it has gone bad, but even if it hadn't, it was really light without any color.
Sucreabeille Soft Heart:
This is supposed to be a dupe for the scent of a Lush body massage bar that I like. It isn't. I don't like it. This was part of a really poorly purchased order that I may have mentioned previously. I will put this with other oils for sale at some point.
That's it for this month! Hopefully I will have more used up items and less decluttering in future posts!
